The Impact of Technology on the Workplace: How Technology is Changing
A BLACK Birmingham-based couple have opened the first African trade cash and carry in the United Kingdom.
In a statement released to The Voice, co-founder Olusegun Akande said: 'This first of its kind facility marks a significant milestone for the African community in the UK. We are proud to bring authentic African products and ingredients directly to our community, making it easier for families to access the foods and goods they need to maintain their cultural connections.'
The Pride of Africa Trade Cash and Carry, located in Birmingham, offers a wide range of products including fresh produce, spices, grains, and household items sourced directly from African suppliers. The store aims to serve not only the African diaspora but also anyone interested in exploring African cuisine and culture.
Co-founder Adebisi Akande added: 'We saw a gap in the market for a comprehensive African trade cash and carry. Many families were traveling long distances or relying on small specialty shops. We wanted to create a one-stop shop that celebrates African heritage while providing convenience and quality.'
The store features over 5,000 products from across the African continent, including items from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and many other countries. The founders have worked directly with suppliers to ensure authenticity and quality.
Grand opening
The grand opening event was attended by over 500 members of the community, including local dignitaries and business leaders. The celebration featured traditional African music, food tastings, and cultural performances.
The Pride of Africa Trade Cash and Carry is now open seven days a week, from 8 AM to 8 PM, and offers both in-store shopping and online ordering with delivery options across the UK.
